Investor visa (Tier 1) is the fastest immigration route that you can follow to obtain UK citizenship, which is possible through making an investment in the UK. There is no English requirement for this visa, and you can bring your close family members with you.
For this vasa, you will need to invest at least £2 million in actively trading UK companies within 90 days of entering the Tier 1 Investor category.
Can I Apply for a UK Investor Visa?
You can if you have the following requirements:
• You are at least 18 years old.
• You have a clean criminal record.
• You can demonstrate that the money you are planning to invest is yours or your spouse’s/ partner’s.
• You are not a citizen of an EEA country or a Swiss national.
• You have opened a bank account in a UK regulated bank in the UK.
• Your money is free to spend in the United Kingdom.
1. How much do I need to invest to get indefinite leave to remain (ILR) in the UK?
How much you will invest depends on how quick you would like to obtain ILR (Indefinite Leave to Remain) in the UK:
- If you invest £2 million, you can get ILR after five years.
- If you invest £5 million, you can get ILR after three years.
- If you invest £10 million, you can get ILR after two years.
2. Is a UK Investor Visa a Golden Visa?
Similar to Golden visas, the Tier 1 Investor visa does offer residency to those who make significant investments in the British economy. However, it has a higher investment amount than Golden visas and does not include buying a property.
3. Can I get permanent residence (ILR) if I buy property in UK?
No, purchasing a residential property in the UK is not among the investment options of this visa, and does not lead to any kind of residency.
You must invest at least £2 million* in one of options below:
- An active and trading UK registered company.
- UK Corporate bonds, by way of share capital or loan capital.
4. What sources of funds are permitted for an Investor visa application?
Investment funds can come from any lawful source, as long as you can demonstrate the source of funds through required documents and independent supporting evidence, and the money is received within the 2 years before the date of application. For instance, it can be a gift received by yourself and/or your spouse/partner, sale money of assets, money held in your or your spouse/partner’s business, and financial winnings.
5. Can I apply for a Tier 1 Investor visa with the funds that I have already invested in the UK?
Yes, you can apply for a Tier 1 Investor visa by your existing funds as long as you invested them during the 12 months before the date of application in the UK.
6. Can I Switch to an Investor Visa if I Am Already in the UK?
Yes, if you are in the UK on one of the following visas, you can switch it to a Tier 1 Investment Visa before your current visa expires, as long as you meet the following criteria:
· Tier 1 (General)
· Tier 1 (Entrepreneur)
· Any Tier 2 Visa
· Tier 4 (General Student)
